Originally called UpRight Scaffolds, UpRight equipment has been widely recognized as the product that originally opened up the modern access industry. After humble beginnings in 1947 in founder Wally Johnson’s California workshop, the company created the first mobile aerial work platform in the world. The UpRight lift factory opened in 1972 and began production on an innovative new UpRight scissor lift that would serve new global markets for scaffold towers and aerial lifts. Since then, UpRight Lift Equipment, a.k.a. UpRight Powered Access, has been moved under the Snorkel brand name.
At CanLift, we believe in the philosophy of quality, innovation, and perseverance – the same philosophy that made UpRight lift products famous around the world. The pioneering and diverse line of UpRight aerial lifts are now sold in nearly every country in the world, supported by a vast global network of more than 140 independent dealers and distributors. UpRight lifts have a unique advantage that stems from six decades of safely lifting millions of people, and CanLift Equipment is proud to carry the full line of UpRight lift equipment.
The UpRight product range exploded with the ‘X-Series’ of UpRight scissor lifts, followed by the first sigma arm lift. A speed level version of the UpRight man lift, which self-levels on rough terrain, was introduced in 1990 and remains a unique machine to this day. In the 1990’s, the UpRight platform product range quadrupled. They introduced a trailer-mounted boom as well as the first self-propelled UpRight boom lift. Their innovation also took compact scissor lift design to new heights at that time, with the launch of a small series of UpRight scissor lift models.
